History
The course Drug analysis was first established at the Department of pharmaceutical chemistry and drug analysis (formerly the Institute, then the Institute of pharmaceutical chemistry and drug Analysis), school year 1984/85. Professor Radule Milošević taught that course, and he wrote the first textbook, Drug Analysis, Part I. After the departure of Professor Milosević to early retirement, the classes were taken over by professors Ljiljana Živanović and Darko Ivanović. The first teaching assistants engaged on the course were Snežana Agatonović – Kuštrin (1985.-1994.) and Mira Zečević (at birth Vasiljević) from 1988.
Practical classes on the course began in 1990. Classes took place in the premises of the Institute of pathology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade. In 1997 and 2000, Anđelija Malenović (at birth Radović) and Biljana Stojanović (at birth Jančić) were elected as teaching assistants. Ivana Ivanović worked as teaching assistant in the course Drug analysis in the period from 2000 to 2005. Afterwards, in 2007 Biljana Otašević (at birth Jocić) and Ana Protić (at birth Ličanski) were elected as teaching assistants. By moving to the new building of the Faculty of Pharmacy, better working conditions were created, and the course was continuously developed and improved in accordance with scientific and professional achievements and the needs of the profession. The Department of drug analysis was officially established on December 4th, 2008. Prof. dr Ljiljana Živanović was elected the first head of this department and with her retirement, the head of the department became prof. dr. Darko Ivanović. Starting in April 2013, the head of the department is full professor Mira Zečević. Today, the Department of drug Analysis performs one compulsory course in the fifth year of integrated academic studies, the study program Master of pharmacy, four elective courses in integrated academic studies, a number of courses in specialist studies required for health system and specialist academic studies, four elective courses in doctoral academic studies programme accredited in 2020, as well as the module of doctoral academic studies in Drug analysis, which was accredited in 2013. The Department currently consists of six employees: two full professors, two associate professors, one associate for administrative and technical support of the work at the Department and one cleaning lady. The department is spatially located in Tower B, where there is a laboratory for practical training 201 and two cabinets for teachers 210 and 211. Also, on the ground floor of the building, there is a library, two cabinets for teachers and teaching assistants.
