History
Classes in Physics have been held since the founding of the Pharmaceutical Department of the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 1939. Until 1946, classes were held by prof. Dragoljub Jovanović, PhD, when he was replaced by associate professor Bratislav Demetrović. With the establishment of departments / institutes at the Faculty, a joint Institute for Physics and Physical Chemistry was established, headed by prof. Demetrović until 1949, when there was a separation into two special institutes. Until that year, classes on the course of Mathematics were not held at the Pharmaceutical Department. The first teaching of mathematics was held by a part-time teacher Desanka Cvetković, high school teacher. From 1951, Ivan Bandić, who also worked as a part-time lecturer, took over the teaching. The Institute of Physics and Mathematics was established in 1954. In the same year, prof. Sreten Šljivić started teaching Physics. Životije Topolac and Ilija Burić worked as teaching assistants in that period. The Institute of Physics and Mathematics then got its premises in the building of the Pathological Institute of the Faculty of Medicine, where classes were held until the Faculty moved to a new building in 1991. In 1960, Jovan Jovićić and Boško Drašković began working on the course of Physics, and Bosiljka Čanak on the course of Mathematics, as teaching assistants. In the same year prof. Ivan Bandić was appointed associate professor and published the first textbook in mathematics for pharmacy students. Prof. Bandić worked at the Faculty until 1971, when he retired. In 1962, assistant professor Ilija Burić was appointed the director of the Institute. In 1966, Aleksandar Aleksić was elected as teaching assistant, and two years later Marko Lalić. Mladen Damjanović was elected as assistant trainee in the same year. In the meantime, since 1972, the teaching of mathematics has been taken over by Jovan Kečkić, PhD, first as assistant professor, and since 1987 as full professor. Prof. Kečkić worked at the Faculty until 2001, when he passed away at the age of 56. Stana Nikčević joined him as teaching assistant in 1974. Prof. Nikčević worked at the Faculty until her retirement. During their joint work, they continued the tradition of writing mathematics textbooks for students of pharmacy and related fields. Their textbook is still used today as the main literature in Mathematics. In 1993, Nikola Burić, PhD, became assistant professor in the course of Physics. Prof. Burić worked at the Faculty until 2006, when he transferred to the Institute of Physics in Zemun as a scientific advisor. In 1996, Ljubo Ristovski, PhD, was elected as full professor, and M.A. Neli Kristina Todorović Vasović started working as an associate. Since 1997, exercises in Mathematics have been held by Dragana Todorović, together with Ana Eremić-Ćulibrk (1995-2004) and Jelena Jocković (2004-2014). Aleksandra Peškir (2000-2005) worked as an assistant trainee in Physics, while Aleksandra Jesenko Rokvić has been working since 2003. In 2007, Todorović Vasović, PhD, was elected as assistant professor. Since 2018, Prof. Todorović Vasović has been elected as full professor. In 2012, Dragana Ranković, Phd (ex Todorović) was elected as assistant professor. Exercises in Mathematics have been held by teaching assistants Danijela Milenković since 2014 and Marija Minić since 2016.
