History
Classes in Pharmacology have been held since the founding of the Pharmaceutical Department of the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 1939.
On this department classes from pharmacology were held by part-time lecturer prof.Ilija Dimitrijevic, PhD, full professor at the Medical Faculty and one from the first elected part-time teachers at the Faculty od Pharmacy. After the independence of the Faculty of Pharmacy in 1945, the Department of Pharmacology was founded (1947), which was later renamed the Institute and then the Department of Pharmacology. The Department of Pharmacology was originally located in the premises of the Pharmacological Institute of the Faculty of Medicine, and in 1962 it received its premises in Višegradska Street in the building of the Institute of Galenic Pharmacy. After moving to the current building in 1991, the Department of Pharmacology got its premises on the ground floor and third floor of building B.
The first director of the former Institute of Pharmacology was professor Vojislav Ristic (1946-1957). Dr Miroslav Draškoci was appointed assistant in 1953, Jovanka Lero was appointed trainee pharmacist in 1955, and Lidija Micković in 1956. After professor Vojislav Ristić, dr Siniša Bogdanović, a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine, gave part-time lectures in Pharmacology for a short time. From 1957 to 1959, the director of the Institute of Pharmacology was dr Dimitrije Atanacković, and in the period from 1959 to 1961, dr Siniša Bogdanović gave lectures again. From 1961, until his retirement in 1986, the director of the Institute was prof. Miroslav Draškoci, PhD. During that period, dr Aleksandra Delini-Štula (1963-1966) also worked at the Institute as an assistant. Since 1986, the director of the Institute of Pharmacology was prof. Svetislav Krstić, PhD, who was in that position until his retirement in 2003. Professor Nenad Ugrešić, PhD, was then elected as head of the Department and was in that position until his retirement in 2016. In previous years, the Department of Pharmacology, in different periods of time, employed dr med Suzana Jovanović (from 1988 to 1990) and dr med Momir Nešić (from 1990 to 1993) as an assistant trainee, dr med Katarina Ilić (from 1994 to 2014) as an associate professor, Marija Milić, PhD, (from 2007 to 2017) as an assistant professor, Jovana Kovačević, PhD, (from 2009 to 2013), mr ph Tamara Stanković (from 2011 to 2021) and mr ph Milja Vuković (from 2018 to 2020) as assistants.
