Dušanka Krajnović, PhD is a full professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, where she graduated, obtained her master's degree, doctorate and specialization. She is the Head of the health specialization in the field of Social Pharmacy, and the research group for Social pharmacy and pharmaceutical practice, and an associate at the Center for Bioethical Studies. She was the Head of the Deaprtment of Social Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Legislation (2013 - 2019). She is involved in postgraduate trainings for pharmacists and physicians in Serbia, and has participated as a mentor and member of the defense commissions for over 270 specialist thesis and over 200 undergraduate thesis.
Her areas of research are multidisciplinary with a comprehensive focus on clinical bioethics and research ethics as well as ethical issues in public health and public health interventions. She has been a researcher for more than 10 years in the field of social determinants of medicines use, including the study of primary prevention services in pharmacy, communication competencies of pharmacists in the function of safe drug use and social determinants of health as predictors of various patient behaviors. Her special expertise is in qualitative interview methodologies, focus groups, and she also used the nominal group technique.
Currently, her main research interests are related to the field of health and pharmacotherapeutic literacy and adherence to therapy in chronic patients and in the general youth population.
Krajnović, PhD publishes in Serbian and English (more than 40 original papers in indexed international scientific journals with impact factor). She was a member for the defense of 1 master's thesis and 5 doctoral theses, and a mentor of 6 doctoral dissertations. She has participated as a researcher / consultant / coordinator / board member in a number of projects: three national projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Serbia, four COST Actions (COST Action IS1201-Disaster Bioethics: addressing ethical issues caused by disasters COST Action IS1303: Citizen's Health through public-private initiatives: public health, market and ethical perspectives, COST Action 19132: European Network to Advance Best practices & technoLogy on medication adherence, an Erasmus + project to strengthen the framework for experiential health education in Serbia (ReFEEHS) and one project from the program Proof of Concept no. 5622 “Pharmaceutical service for patients with diabetes - development of e-portal and mobile application as a concept for support based on user needs”).
Krajnović, PhD is a member of reputable associations, such as the Association of Private Pharmacists of Serbia, the Association of Pharmaceutical Associations of Serbia, Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe, and the International Society for the History of Pharmacy (Secretary General). She is a member of the Ethics Committee for Biomedical Research at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade (since 2015), President of the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Pharmacy (2017-2020) and a member (since 2018); President (2015-2018)) of the Ethics Committee of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Serbia. She is the author of the Oath of Pharmacists and the Code of Ethics for members of the Pharmaceutical Chamber of Serbia.
