Dragan Prekrat was born in 1982 in Pančevo, Serbia. He earned his BSc in 2009 and his PhD in 2023 from the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Physics (FPUB).
From 2011 to 2022, he worked at FPUB as part of the government-funded national research project No. 171031, “Physical Implications of Modified Spacetime”. He began as a junior research assistant and became a research assistant in 2017. During this period, he also taught physics part-time at the Mathematical High School in Belgrade (2013/2014) and served as a junior teaching assistant at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Pharmacy (FPHUB, 2014–2022). In 2022, he was promoted to teaching assistant, then to teaching assistant with PhD in 2023, and subsequently became an assistant professor in 2025.
During his PhD studies, he undertook a study visit at LMU Munich (2010–2011) and research visits at DIAS Dublin (2017, 2018, under COST Action MP1405) and FMFI UK Bratislava (2024, under COST Action CA21109). He is a member of the Belgrade Group for Gravitation, Particles, and Fields and a former member of the Center for Quantum Theoretical Physics at FPUB. He also collaborates with the noncommutative quantum field theory group at Comenius University in Bratislava and serves as the CEEPUS node representative at the FPHUB Department of Physics and Mathematics.
He has participated in approximately 20 international schools and conferences, delivered five conference presentations (including two invited talks), and contributed to organizing the “GR100 Centennial of General Relativity” (2015).
Dragan Prekrat is the (co-)author of seven publications in leading international journals and two textbooks, with an h-index of 2. His research focuses on noncommutative quantum field theory, matrix models, phase transitions, and Monte Carlo simulations.
