Mirjana Marčetić graduated in 1999 and in 2006 she defended her master's thesis entitled ‘Chemical composition, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of essential oil and extracts of laurel leaf, bark and fruit, Laurus nobilis L., Lauraceae’.Doctoral thesis entitled ‘Chemical variability and biological activity of the essential oil of species Seseli rigidum Waldst & Kit. (Apiaceae)’ was defended in 2014 at Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade.

Since April 2001, she has been employed as an associate at the Department of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade, since 2007 as a teaching assistant, and since 2014 she has worked as a teaching associate.Since May 2016, she has been an assistant professor for the scientific field of Pharmacognosy.

At the Department of Pharmacognosy, she participates in the organization and performance of theoretical and practical classes within the integrated academic studies in the mandatory courses Pharmacognosy, Phytotherapy and the elective course Analysis of herbal drugs and preparations. She also participates in teaching in doctoral academic studies, in the courses Selected chapters in Pharmacognosy, Literature review, Communication and presentation skills.

Since 2012/13she is involved in the realization of Specialist academic studies Pharmacotherapy in pharmaceutical practice in workshops on mandatory courses Phytotherapy I and II.

She actively participates in experimental work with students at all levels of study.She was a mentor of 22 student’s final works and a member of the Committees for the defense of 93 student’s final works of integrated academic studies, as well as a mentor of eight student research papers within the activities of the Center for Scientific Research of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade.

Since 2008, she has participated in two projects of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.She has published 25 scientific papers in international journals from the SCI list, 5 papers in journals of national importance and had over 50 presentations at international and national conferences.

Her research interest is composition, variability and chemotaxonomic significance of essential oils as well as biological activity of herbal drugs and confirmation of their traditional therapeutic use.
