Ana Protić was born on 14 06.1979. in Leskovac, where she finished elementary and high school. She enrolled in the Faculty of Pharmacy – University of Belgradein academic year 1998/99 and graduated in 2004. She finished PhD thesis "Development of stability–indicating methods for mycophenolate mofetil and monitoring of mycophenolic acid and mycophenolic acid glucuronide in plasma and urine" (27th October 2011). at the Department of Drug analysis, Faculty of Pharmacy–University of Belgrade under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ljiljana Živanović.

As assistant professor, Ana Protic participates in teaching process within integrated academic and postgraduate specialist studies. Teaching activity involved practical classes of Pharmaceutical analysis, Regulatory affairs in quality control from academic year 2010/2011, as well as Experimental design in pharmaceutical analysis from 2011/2012. Postgraduate studies teaching involve subjects Testing and control of cosmetic products within Pharmacy 2 – module Cosmetology – academic specialist studies and Pharmaceutical analysis and Applying optimization techniques in pharmaceutical research and development within Release medicines onto the market – academic specialist studies. From February 2014 she is assistant professor, ever since participates in theoretical teaching the subjects Pharmaceutical analysis, Experimental design in pharmaceutical analysis and Regulatory affairs in quality control. In the polls of students' evaluation of the pedagogical work of teachers of Faculty Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, she has been obtaining highest grades.

In the period from 2006 to 2010 Ana Protic took part in the project No. 142071B granted by Ministry of Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia. From 2011 onwards, she has been involved in the project No. 172033 granted by Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Serbia.

The main research activity is based on the investigation of pharmacologically active compounds, impurities and degradation products in pharmaceutical dosage forms as well as testing their stability through forced degradation studies using the method of reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography with UV/VIS and mass spectrometry detection. Research activity includes the extraction techniques for the preparation and purification of biological materials as well as testing of drugs and their metabolites in biological matrices. Chemometric approach, experimental design and methodology of multi-criteria optimization have been used for development and validation of analytical methods. In recent years, scientific interest has turned to the examination of quantitative relationship between structure and retention behaviour of a group of compounds in chromatographic systems (QSRRs). Determination of relevant molecular descriptors and chromatographic parameters enables separation of very complex mixtures, prediction of retention behaviour for the entire class of compounds, as well as clarifying the molecular mechanisms of retention in chromatography. This complex modelling of behaviour of a large number of compounds has been performed with the aid of artificial neural networks, computer technology that has the ability to "learn", since it is a simulation of neural activity in the brain.

She is the author of 53 publications. According to the journals categorization of Ministry of Education and Science, 2 papers were published in national journals (category M52) and 19 papers in international journals, of which 6 papers published in the journals of M21 category and 13 papers in the journals of M23 category. She had 9 presentations at the national and 23 presentations at the conferences abroad.
